Back in 2016 artist, architect and concrete planner Meejin Yoon was chosen from a nationwide search to design an artwork set up in Riverfront Park as a part of the Riverfront Spokane redevelopment venture. Soar ahead to 2020 and website work will start within the spring for Yoon’s piece, “StepWell,” meant to miss Spokane Falls.

Now Spokane Arts is looking for one other artist to create one other Riverfront Park artwork set up.

With the top purpose being an accessible, welcoming, interactive piece that can make Riverfront Park an inviting vacation spot for guests to Spokane and residents alike, Spokane Arts is searching for artists within the Inland Northwest area of Washington, Idaho, and Oregon. The deadline for the primary a part of the applying is that this coming Friday, Feb. 21.

The Riverfront Spokane redevelopment venture is funded by the 2014 voter-approved bond to renovate Riverfront Park. With this funding the chosen artist will likely be working with an $85,000 finances to create a chunk of artwork that can in flip turn into part of the town.

“The addition of partaking, interactive parts in our city park creates group gathering area for folks of all ages and backgrounds, supplies locations for guests, and develops cultural touchstones that, over time, turn into a part of the material of Spokane and a supply of civic delight,” says Spokane Arts Govt Director Melissa Huggins.
