Livingston artist Sylvia Verbesky brings her large abstract paintings to the library’s community room through the first week in December. The exhibit is open during regular library hours. Essential Oils for the Holidays
Geeta Lahiri will lead another hands-on essential oils workshop at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14. Participants will learn how to make an invigorating peppermint foot scrub, relaxing lavender bath salt and holiday room freshener. RSVP on library website.
Free, full-length practice SAT administered by C2 Education of West Caldwell at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 16. The test will take place in Roseland Free Public Library’s community room. To RSVP, please send email to WEST.CALDWELL@C2EDUCATE.COM and provide the student’s name, school and grade in fall, and the best phone number to be reached. Arrive about 30 minutes early at the library the day of the test and bring a calculator. Test will be three hours long. All tests will be graded, and depending on how many students take the test, the results will be available immediately after the test or students may sign up for a later date to go over the results at no charge.
The 2019 fantasy/drama movie “Yesterday” will be shown at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18. Rated PG-13, it runs two hours. Popcorn will be served. No RSVP needed.
The library’s book club will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20 to discuss “Next Year in Havana” by Chanel Cleeton, which follows a Cuban-American woman’s journey back to her roots and the huge family secret she uncovers.

Mindful Coloring For Adults

Lee Bergman, Roseland resident and accredited T’ai Chi Chih instructor, returns with her classes every Tuesday through Nov. 19. Cost is $70 for all 10 weeks. There will be no class Nov. 5 and 26. This fundraiser to benefit the Friends of the Roseland Free Public Library continues through Dec. 31. Every time you order any menu item from Frank’s Pizza, 14 Eisenhower Parkway, Roseland, 15 percent of your purchase will be donated to the Friends (no extra cost to the customer). Applies to eat-in and take-out orders any day or time and includes gluten-free pizza (specials not included). Zac’s Hacks Computer Help
Library assistant Zac Cascio is available to show patrons the basics of Microsoft Word, Excel and other tech resources from 9 a.m. to noon Mondays and Fridays. Learn how to safely and effectively navigate social media; create resume templates, letters and spreadsheets; use valuable cell phone, iPad and Kindle features, such as calendars and more. RSVP is required. This is drop-in instruction, not a formal class.
Libby App And Hoopla Help
Libby is an app that gives Roseland Free Public Library patrons access to ebooks and audio books: https://resources.overdrive.com/meet-libby/. Patrons also may download free digital music, ebooks and television shows with Hoopla (hoopladigital.com). Library assistants are available to get patrons started or to help with these apps. No appointment necessary, but call (973) 226-8636 to make sure an assistant will be available.
