Katie Piper has shared a heartbreaking unseen image of herself weeks after an acid attack threatened to ruin her life .
The presenter opened up about the aftermath of the assault in 2008 in an attempt to encourage others to seek help on World Mental Health day.
Aspiring model Katie was left with severe burns and partially blind after Stefen Sylvestre threw acid over her, at the request of her abusive ex boyfriend Daniel Lynch.
Her life was only saved by pioneering surgery and she has endured over 250 corrective operations.

She shared a never-seen-before picture – and described the harrowing reality of having to recover from having sulphuric acid thrown over her.

She posted: “I remember when I didn’t want to look at anyone. I remember when I didn’t want anyone to look at me.
“I remember when I was scared of people, scared of men. I remember when I was scared of the world.
“I remember when opening up to people and talking about my trauma and psychological damage just wasn’t possibly.
“Today on Mental Health Day my first meeting of the day is with my therapist. I still go, it still helps and I’m able to talk.”
The 2018 Strictly star, who was blinded in one eye and put in an induced coma for 12 days after the horrific assault, outlined how she explains her scars to her young children during the summer.
“Me and my daughter have a lot of open conversations,” Katie said.
“My eldest is quite funny. She knows what happened.
“She’ll say, ‘Why do you have lumps and wrinkles round your eyes?’
“I’ll say, ‘It’s skin graft – where I got burnt, and I’m ageing.
“She’ll say, ‘Oh, it looks awful. I hope I don’t get burnt.’ It’s almost funny. I’ll say, ‘That can be quite hurtful for some people.’
“And she’ll say, ‘But it’s true Mum – I would not want my eyes like that.’
“She’s seeing something and feels she can openly discuss it with me, and that’s positive.”
