Greater than 500 college students let their brushes do the speaking on the Singapore River yesterday.
They have been participating within the 13th version of the Nationwide Junior On-the-Spot Watercolour Competitors.
Amongst them have been Fuhua Secondary Faculty college students Donovan Dua, 14, Zou Muyan, 15, and Kwa Jun Hao, 14.
The occasion was organised by the Singapore Watercolour Society to rejoice its 50th anniversary and commemorate Singapore’s bicentennial.
College students have been requested to select a scene to color across the Singapore River. A complete of 33 winners have been chosen.
The profitable works will probably be exhibited on the society’s annual exhibition to be held on the Singapore Chinese language Cultural Centre from Sept 15 to Sept 20.
They are going to be featured alongside 200 works produced by greater than 120 members of the Singapore Watercolour Society.
Mr Donald Tan, the vice-president of the Singapore Watercolour Society, stated: “We selected the Singapore River for this 12 months’s competitors as we wished the scholars to discover and seize this stunning location and permit college students to go to a traditionally important website.
“The Singapore River can also be a favorite portray spot of our group’s founding members and pioneer artists.”
He added that the competitors is among the many group’s efforts to introduce and promote watercolour as a portray medium to college students. It additionally hopes to instil the significance of artwork in younger Singaporeans, in addition to to unearth younger expertise.
